Blender Lighting Study

Lighting Process

Project Development

For this light study series, I experimented with colored gel lighting on classical sculptural busts to refine my command of chiaroscuro, material rendering, and dramatic form revelation.

I positioned red, green, blue, and yellow gels on key, rim, and fill lights, fine-tuning ratios for controlled spill and separation that highlighted marble veining and fabric textures without losing shadow depth or midtone nuance.

I began with isolated single-source portraits, iterating to complex multi-light setups informed by complementary color theory and precise rim placement. This hands-on exploration sharpened my eye for volumetric lighting, directly enhancing my Blender texturing, shader application, and render optimization techniques.
